first off, its my birthday! I’m finallyyy 18 🥳

SECONDLY, WHERE HAVE I BEEN?! My dear reader, I have one word for you, but this word is self explanatory and requires absolutely no explanation (but me being me, I shall still explain): MDCAT. 😭X∞

So yeah, I’ve been in a self exile of some sorts since August, vigorously preparing for the MDCAT here in Pakistan. Which might I just say, is heavily biased against those who chose to do A Levels in high school. Regardless, my results came out this month, and even though a loooonnnggg process of university/college applications stands in my way, I’ve been deprived of this blog for too long. 😦

And would you look at that, 2020 is almost over huh? And I still have to tell you all about my A Levels results drama! And fill you up to date on every. single. thing. How I started driving, started accurate medication, finally got a job, made a new lifelong friend ❤ and UGH there’s too much to start rambling on about now!

Not to mention, I’ve got a lot of reading to do! Catching up on every blog I can get my hands on that is! Hope you guys get to see more of me around, and make up all that time we lost together. I mean, imagine how dull life would be without me in it! 😛

✨ 10 Hours Until A Level Results! ✨ Let’s Chat! ✨

It’s been a while since I’ve been on here, and let me just say, this is the perfect timing! My final A Level results are hours away, and here I am at 3 AM not knowing what to think, what to expect, what to do other than feel my heart fluttering. ✨ ✨✨✨✨

So let’s start off with addressing the elephant in the room. 🐘

These A Level results will be historic, and quite frankly legendary. This will be the first (and hopefully last) time results are being handed out without giving THE ACTUAL EXAM. So my results are actually predicted grades that teachers just HOPED I would get in the end. 😬

Which leaves us with two possibilities. 1) The exam boards are lenient and hands out everybody’s expected grades, making it easier to get As and A*s and effectively decreasing the value of them or 2) The exam boards not giving a you-know-what and making it harder to achieve As and A*s.

But hey, this is a STRESS FREE zone. 💕And as much as I’m lying about not being even a teeny weeny bit stressed, I think it’s important to realize that these results are being conducted in the most confusing and unprecedented time in nearly a century. It’s completely normal to feel nervous, but just know that everyone did their best to satisfy everyone. The exam boards, teachers, students, and you. 🙂

I think more than ever before, exam boards are beginning to realize that final exams are not an indicator of anyone’s achievements. Some students work really hard all year but don’t get what they wants, while others are laid-back before the finals and wow everyone.

The real key is consistency. And I predict that final exams will eventually be devalued as schools look upon a students overall performance throughout the year.

But alas, I can also predict with 110% confidence that I will still be awake a few hours from now. 😂

A Group of Men Took Pictures of Me And I Don’t Know What To Do

A couple of days ago, my eight year old sister would not step begging for me to take her to the park, which happened to be a 10 minute walk from our house. Being the perfect older sister, I complied.

I kid you not, I took 237 steps outside the house (my iPhone will verify that) before I noticed a group of young men aiming smartphone cameras at me. I squinted my eyes to see what was happening, and that’s when a series of flashes ensued.

They thought I didn’t notice the flashing light, especially with the bright sun out at midday.

But I noticed.

And I froze.

I can’t even begin to describe to you why I froze. I just did. I just locked my eyes with one of the men, and I was going to confront them.

But I didn’t. Because as “safe” as these politicians and leaders say women are, we are not. With me confronting them, I was only putting my own life in danger. Can you imagine? A 17 year old girl, with her younger sister, ready to confront a group of juvenile men? Had it turned physical, I would have surely been a goner. I could have been murdered, because in Pakistan, and unfortunately the rest of the world, the women will always be the one at fault. It’s unimaginable that the male is the guilty one at hand. And it would only bring disgrace and dishonor on me to even accuse someone of such a thing.

And imagine if I had called the police. Because get this, Pakistan actually has LAWS against sexual harassment (under section 509 of Pakistan Penal Code). But you’d be an absolute idiot if you think any of these laws are regulated. They would questions whether taking pictures of a woman without her CONSENT is even deemed as sexual harassment.

But worst of all, they would say that men taking pictures of me is a compliment. That it is simply a measurement of the beauty I possess (???!?!?)

I’m so upset right now. I know this happened a few days ago, which is why I delayed writing about it since my emotions were going through the loop of a roller coaster. But this is so wrong.

I feel humiliated. Embarrassed. Exposed. Vulnerabe. Angry. Furious. Violated. Stripped of all my dignity and self worth.

I’m just so angry. I’m angry because those men thought they were in power, and I’m angry that I didn’t even try to confront them, despite all the odds stacked up against me. The fact that I didn’t do anything about it means hat they still think they are superior to women.

I know this rant makes no sense, but I hope it gives you an insight into how emotionally troubled and disturbed I am. I literally don’t know what to do. I pray to God Almighty that He punishes them severely, because as much as we all preach forgiveness and letting go, I can’t. No way. What those men did is plain disgusting, and they need to pay.

So what now? I literally don’t know what to do. Those pictures of me could be circulating in WhatsApp chains, men may be jerking off to it, who knows, maybe I’m about to be killed in a few days? All I know is, I’ve let those men win, because I’m terrified of leaving the house now.

God, I just want to scream and kick and punch those men so bad right now. They’ve turned my life upside down in a matter of days. Making me questions my own self love and respect.

But for now I suppose I’ll just cry.

Because that’s all I can do.

Hey there! So this is the first Ramadan I have a blog and I’m going to kick off my Ramablogs (hehe) with a post I hope fellow Muslims find relatable! And even if you aren’t Muslim, I hope I have in some way, educated you about Ramadan struggles!💁‍♀️

1. Binge Eating At Suhoor (Meal Before Dawn)

Now I can’t personally relate, but my family and friends can! Especially when they wake up with only 10 minutes left!😱

2. Wobbling During Taraweeh (Taraweeh: AKA Leg Day Workout)

I felt this every year when we used to pray at the mosque, when the imam leading the prayer made Taraweeh last SO LONG! I would shift my weight from my left foot to my right foot to ease the pain. And the WORST was when my foot would fall asleep! 

Now with this whole global pandemic, Taraweeh have become somewhat easier with my family praying at home together. But I still feel like I’m doing my leg day workout! 🦵

3. Using The Bathroom CONSTANTLY After Suhoor (all that water you speed drank!) 

This is my reality now, especially since I’m consciously making sure I’m hydrated this Ramadan! Every Suhoor, I end up drinking SO much water, to the point that I can hear it swoosh in my stomach! And I’m waking up at LEAST three times just to relieve my bladder. Anyone else?😳

4. Eating Too Much At Iftar (even when you say you won’t)

No explanation necessary! But I must add, I come out of Iftar looking pregnant!🤰

5. Staying Up All Night And Ruining Your Circadian Rhythm

Every year, I say I’m going to sleep early and wake up early during Ramadan. Well, um, that’s going great!😌

6. Vowing To Not Eat Fried Things

Trying to be all healthy shmealthy huh? Those pakoras, falafel, samosas, chicken nuggets,  fries, and rolls won’t disappear on their own! And why are these so tempting?? I eat one, and I just gotta eat them all!

Why are the best foods SO BAD FOR YOU?!?!? Explain! 

7. Freezing Masjids

Not too relatable now (I hope!!), but why is this so true? I’m nearly shivering during Taraweehs! 🥶

8. When You’re Thirsty All Day Long (but suddenly not at Iftar)

Same goes for hunger! It vanishes by Iftar time! 

9. Ramadan. In. Summer.

I’m counting down the days that Ramadan is in the winter!! 🥵This summer weather is too harsh! But gosh, I can’t just give up my mangoes!! 🥭

1. What is the first thing you’ll do after social distancing measures are lifted? Nothing too exotic, but I NEED to meet up with my friends and sit in a circle on the grass while recounting all of our funniest and most epic memories from high school! With our schools closing so abruptly, we never got a chance to properly say goodbye. It sucks even more because it is our last year of being together as a group.
2. Your house is burning down, and you only have enough time to save 3 things. What do you save? Honestly…I don’t really have anything I’d truly want to save. I’m a minimalist and I don’t have any possession of mine that I must MUST save. I mean, there is my iPhone 6+, but it barely functions and so I wouldn’t mind it burning! 😂
3. What’s your favorite social media platform? Does this blog count? I actually cannot, I absolutely CANNOT, stand social media! It’s weird, most 17 year old girls fresh outta high school have the usually Instagrams and Snapchats, but not me! 🙅‍♀️
4. Where would you like to travel one day? I would love to visit countries where there is a humanitarian crisis and try to help as many people as I can. So wherever I get a calling from!🌍
5. Would you rather have the power to fly or be able to turn invisible? Depends on the speed at which I would be flying. I’m such an over thinker, so I’ll go with invisibility. I could sneak myself in for free anywhere! Maybe even crash top secret meetings and be able to end wars. The possibilities are endless!🙇‍♀️
6. If you could snap your fingers and solve a global problem, which problem would you solve? WHERE DO I START?!? You guys reading this have no idea, but I want to do so much and help so many people. I don’t even say this to gain attention, I genuinely want to be able to help so so so so many people and set up schools, hospitals, prison reforms, build roads and skyscrapers and create millions of jobs. I could go on for hours and hours and hours! Probably even days! It’s my absolute passion, and it consumes 100% of my daydreaming!♥️
7. Who is your role model/who do you admire the most? My maternal grandfather and Aisha (ra), the woman I was named after!
8. What’s something you want to achieve this year? I want to grow my blog audience for sure! I also want to get into the best shape of my life, complete my online courses, get into medical univeristy (God Willing) and do virtual volunteering! Wish me luck!🙏

5 Easy + Healthy Dessert Ideas ft Bayance and Ceres｜ Ramablog #2

Asalamualykum! HEYYY! What’s up everyone? Anyone hungry? 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️

This post is in collaboration with Bayance and Ceres! These two have included recipes for Iftar and Suhoor, so our Ramadan is basically set! The three of us have essentially made sure ya’ll are well fed for the rest of the month! What more could you possible need?!?! SO CHECK THEM OUT. LIKE…NOW! 😱They are amazing amaze amazing fellow (Muslim) bloggers who are so much more composed and professional than I am hehe.😜

I’ve got some super easy (GLUTEN FREE💃) recipes that we can all try out this Ramadan! I’ve tried my best to incorporate foods that are associated with Ramadan, like dates, yogurt, and fruits! As a plus, I have also tried making them as simple as possible, because I know you all might not have these ingredients lying around, and with this global pandemic, I don’t encourage you to go out right now!☹️

1. Yogurt with Honey, Nuts, and Fruit!

This has been my go-to, EVERYDAY snack this 😍Ramadan! I can’t believe I have tried it sooner! This recipe is COMPLETELY adaptable! Add as much as you need and want, but be sure to taste it along the way! Don’t add too much honey or too much yogurt.

Ingredients

• 1 cup of greek yogurt
• 1 tablespoon of honey
• Any fruit of your choice (I love bananas and strawberries!)
• As many nuts or granola your heart desires!

 

     2.  Date Energy Balls

From DetoxInsta

I’ve seen these everywhere and lemme just say, these taste heavenly. I finish all these balls in literally, one day. I know, its a problem. There are so many variations of this!

Ingredients

• 2 cups of soft dates, with the seed removed
• 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
• 1/2 teaspoon of salt
• 1 cup of coconut
• 2 cups of any nut of your choice! (walnuts work great, if you love peanut butter, add peanuts!)

Instructions

1. Blend up the nuts and coconut in a food processor until they are completely crumbled.
2. Add in the dates, salt, and vanilla extract.
3. Once the mixture becomes sticky and doughy, you can scoop it out and roll it into balls! (if the mixture isn’t forming, you can add very little amounts of water or coconut oil)
4. Place it on a sheet and place in the fridge or freezer!

3.  Chocolate Ice cream Using Bananas!?!

Yes! You heard that right! Something people may not know is that I’m actually gluten free, so finding ice cream was a pain. I LOVE ice cream, but I LOVE fruit too. This is MY FAVE, low calorie, sweet, quick dessert idea!♥️

Ingredients

• 3 frozen bananas
• 2tablespoons milk
• 1teaspoon vanilla extract
• 3tablespoons cacao/cocoa powder

Instructions

1. Just add everything to a blender and blend away! You can eat it as soon as its done, or put it in the freezer for a few hours for a thicker consistency!

4. Date Smoothie

Ingredients

• 1/2cup  milk
• 4pitted dates
• 1banana (preferably frozen)
• 1/8teaspoon cinnamon
• 1/2cup ice cubes
• 1/8teaspoon vanilla extract

– If I’m being honest, lazy folk like me are real straightforward, and would just add the dates, milk, and some ice! Tastes DIVINE even then!

 

5. Watermelon Sorbet!

This year, watermelon has been the hit item on our menu! Everyday, I’m cubing at least 1-2 watermelons and chilling them in the fridge to eat for Iftar. 😓Anyone else loving watermelons this Ramadan?🙇‍♀️

Ingredients

• 2 cups of frozen, cubed watermelon
• 1 tablespoon of lemon or lime or even ORANGE juice
• some honey  if you feel like it’s not sweet enough

Instructions

1. Blend up the frozen watermelon in a food processor and add the lime juice
2. Blend it until you get the texture you want!

Eat. Sleep. Repeat. (anyone else?)

We’ve reached Day Number: I Have No Idea in this whole lockdown mess. And let me just say, staying at home and doing nothing but YouTube and watching movies sounds amazing theoretically, but in actuality it really, really sucks. ☹️

I’m not sure what it is, but I haven’t lived up to a SINGLE goal of mine. Every night I make the intention to wake up bright and early, but I end up snoozing past 1 PM easily. That isn’t to say I haven’t woken up early at all, but it varies extremely. To highlight this, I have a graph which perfectly illustrates my circadian rhythm. Be warned, it involves A Level Chemistry. 😱

Here’s a little sneak peak of A Level Chemistry, should any of you to choose to study it. 

Then I spend my days washing the dishes, or cleaning up the rooms, maybe some cooking, and eating of course! Any other spare time I use on WordPress or doing something on my phone that doesn’t require Wifi. Did I mention? Our Wifi has been acting up these days. My siblings and I successfully used up 150 GB of data in a mere two weeks.

(Spoiler alert: Mom and Abbu were not happy campers about this) 😳

Depressing, right?

I’m not entirely sure how to get myself to do something to be honest. While my siblings are taking their online classes, I have none. I’m waiting for my final results to come out in August, so that I can start applying for university. Not to mention I can’t meet up with friends, get out of the house, take an internship, or even get a job. I tried to volunteer at a hospital, but they said you had to be 18 years and older. Bummer.

Until then, it’s a waiting game for me.

That’s not to say I’m not grateful! I’m immensely grateful I even HAVE the luxury to stay home. All I’m saying is that it’s getting a bit repetitive and tedious.

So why this blog post? I’m hoping that by telling over 300 people (did we reach 300 already?!! <3) that I’ve become somewhat of a lazy bum, it will motivate me to stop being the said lazy bum. You getting me so far? I know it’s okay to be feeling like this, especially during a worldwide pandemic, but it seems to be taking a toll on me.

I’ve always been an outdoorsy, extrovert, workaholic type personality. Suddenly being hit with nothing significant to do is a complete 180! I feel almost guilty for staying at home, when I could be out somewhere volunteering. Or inventing the Covid-19 vaccine. Or developing a rapid test, that’s 100% efficient. 

But maybe that’s just me? The whole gist of this post was to kinda ramble up my thoughts here. And to make sure anyone else who hasn’t been exactly productive during this lockdown knows they aren’t alone.💕  

In short, I’m feeling useless staying at home, but I also know it’s necessary. Oh, and I also need to fix my daily routine up significantly. I’m hoping that this post will be able to do just that.
